Procedure (45 minutes)
1. I will start the lesson by showing SS a video about a person quitting his job and asking them to watch and discuss their thoughts in pairs. 2. Then, I will show a question on the PPT (If you leave your job, what job will you choose and why?) and ask them to answer in pairs, then share with the rest of the class.
I will briefly give the MPF of 3 words before exposing my students to the reading text. I will show the pictures with the meanings and ask them to match the word with the correct meaning. Answers will shown on the PPT after drilling the words. Note: If they are already aware of the words I won't spend much time on this stage.
1. I will show students 3 pictures on the PPT and introduce the characters and give them a hint of what they're about to read about, i.e. changing careers. 2. I will present the text and ask them to read and discuss the main idea in groups. Followed by an OCFB. 3. SS will be asked to match the quotes to the speakers and check their answers in pairs. Then, the answers will be provided on a slide.
1. I will ask SS to circle the following conjunctions (If- as soon as- before- until- after) in the context. 2. this will be followed by CCQ such as How many sentences does a conjunction link? two What tense is the verb that follows the conjunction? Present does it indicate the present or the future? Future 3. I will pick a sentence from the context and drill chorally, in groups and individually. 4. I will explain the MPF indicating the intonation as well as the sentence stress.
1. SS are asked to complete the sentences in pairs and personalize the answers. This is followed by OCFB.
1. SS are asked to mingle and find out if someone has the same answer as they have. 2. Those that have common answers will sit together and each one will talk about his/her partner. 3. This is followed by Language and content feedback.
