Description
This lesson presents the present perfect to talk about the recent past, and students also learn to use it when yet, just and already. The context of the lesson is housework. Students begin with two articles about housework. This is followed by a vocabulary focus on common verbs phrases about for housework, and collocations with make and do.

Main Aims

To provide gist, detailed and deduction reading practice using a text about Doing housework is as good as going to the gym. New Spanish law: children must help their parents with housework. in the context of housework.

To provide review and practice of house chores in the context of housework.
Procedure (31-42 minutes)
Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context about hte text
Students read two headlines of three different texts and predict the content of the two texts.
Pre-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible
Students read comments of the text and choose appropriate comments to the texts. Students check their answers in pairs.
While-Reading #1 (7-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks
Students read the text and find verbs, which goes before housework, sport and cleaning. Students share collocations in pairs.
While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks
Students match comments from A to F to the two texts, by choosing 1A, 2B and etc.
Post-Reading/ Discussion (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text about Housework
Students look at the box of questions and answer them in pairs by interviewing each other. Students work in groups by dividing into 2 groups.
