Main Aims

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of Present Perfect Simple with just, yet and already. in the context of Travel companion

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review and practice of adjectives to describe a person in the context of travel, describe travel companion.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context about travelling and holidays.

Students answer to the questions in pairs during 1 minute to share their opinion. 1. Have you ever been on holiday with friends? What was it like? 2. Who would be the ideal person to travel with? Why?

Pre-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text entitled My backpacking holiday in Salvador.

Students read the question and interview 3 students and note their answers. The question is: Which things from the box would annoy you most about a travel companion?

While-Reading #1 (5-7 minutes) • To pintroduce students Present Perfect Simple with just, already and yet through the text.

Students read the text individually and pay attention on the grammar. They need to fing Present Perfect Simple from the text and highlight sentences.

Post-Reading (6-8 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailedtask about Present Perfect Simple.

Students read the sentences with missed words, and fill them with according to the text.

Pre-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To practise Past participle form of regular and irregular verbs

Students read the verbs, translate unknown words and write past participle for each of them.

Pre-Listening #2 (4-6 minutes) • To practice past participles of verbs in the context.

Students read the given sentences, and fill gaps by using verbs from the previous exercise.

While-Listening #1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist listening task

Students look through and translate unknown words. When the 1-minute audio plays, they need to put ticks for topics which were discussed during Connor's telephone speech.

While-Listening (3-5 minutes) • To provide more challenging listening task

Students, while listening for the second time, answer the questions and compare their answers with their partner.

End-product of the lesson (5-7 minutes) • To sum up the lesson with an appropriate activity to comprehend new information.

Students look at the adjectives to describe an ideal travel companion and write their own examples by looking at the example.
