Procedure (34-45 minutes)
Showing photos of some people gossiping and some photos of reporters interviewing people and asking about the connections or similarities between these photos. Trying to elicit the answer "reporting" .
** Let ss go to Pg 93 for the listening part, before listening it , asking ss what a podcast is and also ask them to answer the questions in section 3b. ** Let ss listen to the recording and do the exercise in section 3c. ** Let them listen again with the script open to check the answers. ** Ask ss to read the email in section 4a and ask them whether the questions are in the same form or not with the listening section. ** Let ss go to Pg 94 and give them time to complete sentences from the interview with the original forms, and let them listen to check their answers.
** Ask for a volunteer student among ss and want them to report the sentences that the T shows to the other students (Imagining it is text messaging) ** Write the original sentences on the board and ask them to say changings. ** Ask ss to report the last whatsapp message they got to their partners, and show the original one later.
** Show ss some quotes from famous people and their reported speech versions as a slide show and discuss the changes in the sentences with the ss. https://www.slideshare.net/cristinaca/reported-speech-orders ** Let ss play a guessing game related to quotes of famous people. https://www.baamboozle.com/game/880759 ** Ask ss to do a group work and report at least two quotes from famous people.
** Share the PPT presentation of the target grammar topic with the ss and tell them the details and the rules . ** Share the PPT presentations and PDF documents for more rules about the question and imperative forms.
** Let ss work as a group and change the direct sentences into reported speech sentences. ** Provide the answer keys.
