Main Aims

  • To provide scan reading practice by using a text about podcasts in the context of how to make your own podcast
  • To provide clarification and review on learning vocabulary about sharing information and podcasts in various contexts

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency in speaking practice in conversations related to the context of sharing information

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Showing a photo of the 'Sultans of the Net' (Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team - European Champion 2023) while having an interview and asking questions about this photo. Later , let ss watch a video of an interview with the players in English.

Test 1 (7-8 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Let ss look at the photos on section 1, Pg 92 in the coursebook and ask them what is happening on the photos. Let them do a group work and ask and answer the questions on section 1a.

Teach (11-13 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

**Let ss do the exercise in section 1b as a pair work and let them check the answers by showing the answers on the smartboard. ** Asking questions about the vocabulary and sentences in this section and making a class poll. ** Let ss go to Page 140 for more vocabulary studies and ask them to do the parts a and b individually. After finishing this part let them check the answer keys. ** Ask ss to match the words and their definitions in pairs and checking the answers ** Asking questions on part d and get answers from the students as a whole class activity.

Teach 2 (12-14 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and let them read a text related to the topic

** Ask ss to go to Pg 92 for the Reading part. ** Let ss read the first part of the text very quickly by giving the task of finding any interesting or new information for them and asking and answering CCQs about the text. ** Let ss read the second part (parts for tips) and ask them to find the most important tip and the least important tip for them. ** Ask ss to try to do part 2c as a pair work, and check the answers together as a whole class activity. ** Let ss do part 2d as a whole class activity.

Free practice (3-4 minutes) • To provide students some extra information about the reading topic (podcasts)

Sharing and showing some applications and websites related to podcasts where ss can make English listening practice.
