By the end of this lesson, SS will have developed their oral fluency on the topic of TV and radio programs.
Procedure (45 minutes)
1. I will start with a brief discussion about a show I've just watched and ask them about their favorite show to set the tone and prepare them to be introduced to today's topic. 2. I will show them the first slide (TV and radio shows) and ask them to give a common title.
1. T will give SS flash cards containing pictures of 4 vocabulary words. 2. In pairs, SS will describe the word to his/her partner without saying the actual word. 3. Partners in each group are expected to guess the word from the context given and the pictures. 4. I will elicit the words by giving a context, followed by sentence drilling chorally, in groups, and finally individually. 5. T will write the sentences on the board to focus on pronunciation aspects.
1. SS are asked to read the questions first and be prepared to listen for gist.
1. SS will listen and put the names of the programs into 3 categories, TV, Radio, or both. 2. After they check their answers in pairs, we will have an OCFB.
1. SS will be given the chance to read the questions before listening. 2. We will answer the first question together to give them a demo of what they're supposed to do. 3. SS will listen and answer the questions individually, then, they will check their answers in pairs. 4. I will show the slide with the answer key.
1. SS will be asked to sit in pairs facing each other to conduct a TV show role-play. 2. They will be given cue cards, aluminum microphones, and a silver buzzer for the winning team to use after they ask each other. 3. The student who used the buzzer first will be asked to share his/her partner's answer, then pick the next one to do the same. 4. Finally, I will give content and language feedback.
