Description

In this lesson students learn How to state a problem discuss problems and solutions . Actually it is a speaking task so first students will review some vocabularies related to social problems Then they review the strategy of speaking by a powerpointt prepared by teacher you're supposed to check how to express justif answers Then they're introduced to the topic again the topic is Solving a public health problem. First students are asked to work in the group Make plans write an outline on these issues introduction introduce the topic health problem you will talk about second description of the health problem describe the problem and explain who is affected by it explain how difficult it is to solve the problem explained why we should try to solve it the next one conclusion suggests 1 way to solve the problem. After working in the group then I will choose 1 person from each group to talk and to report what they talked about. Then teacher give them a general feedback The last phase teacher give them a presentation evaluation form to evaluate their classmates presentation

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask students this question 'What are some public health issues that you think are important.' They should discuss it in a pair group.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

To prepare students for the speaking task I will ask them to Brainstorm. I will show them list of public health problems. look at the list of public health problems , then add an idea.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Students are asked to remember as many words as they can related to the topic which is a public health problem which they had already learned in the first hour lesson , then presented them the vocabularies and check their pronunciation and understanding.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Students will be provided with Vocabularies checking for accurate pronunciation.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students are presented the strategies of expressing and justifying opinions in speaking , reviewing them and check their comprehension.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students will be provided with an outline on Solving a Public Health Problem, they can take a note in it and check with their friends in their group to make themselves ready for presentation.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Students are asked to report to the class a public health problem which they discussed in the group, the other students should take notes while their classmate is speaking , then after the speaker is finished they can discuss about it. The teacher doesn't interfere first, let them discuss, 2- 3 group may present their ideas then the teacher will give a general feedback. and finally teacher will ask them to reflect on lesson as a whole.
