Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (7-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The students will be asked if they have ever experienced making friends with people from other countries. Do they find it easy to cope with the differences there might be between the two cultures.

Pre-Listening (6-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The students will be informed about the meaning of the following vocabularies used in the text by trying to match the meaning of the words with the vocabularies individually. They will check their answers in pairs and then with the whole class. apologize - reserve - navigate - inconsiderate - brag

While-Listening #1 (6-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students will listen to track and try to answer the following questions: What was their problem when they first met? How have they managed to solve their differences about manners? The answers will be checked with whole class. Students will need to support their ideas if they come up with different answers.
