Description

In this lesson students are going to learn how to write a report using the format they are going to learn in this lesson and also using new grammar and vocabulary they've learned during the whole lesson.

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a report in the context of superlative cities

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review and practice of describing town or cities words in the context of superlative cities

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I start to ask students whether they have visited any of the big famous cities in the world or if they have any plan for it. Then I will ask them to talk about pros and cones of living in a capital city.

Exposure (4-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I start to teach the students how to write a report by showing them the format and clarifying whatever they have to write in it and all the stages of a report and also all the necessary information that they have use in a report.

Useful Language (2-3 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will teach the students some linking words that will be useful for them while writing a report and also I teach them the language they have to use in their writing.

Productive Task(s) (5-6 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I will ask the students to write a short report about their favorite city using the lesson they've learned about writing a report just to see if they know the structures.

Feedback and Error Correction (7-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I will ask each student to read their writing loudly. Then I will ask other students for comments. At the end I will give each student feedback and I correct their mistakes. Then I will ask the students to write the writing on page 39 at home using everything they've learned and also fixing their errors.
