Exposure (1-2 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ask the students to talk about some intresting news that they`ve heard lately.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Teacher writes some of the news that students mentioned on the board and turns them to passive form. *(what if we can say this sentences in another way. These are active sentances that I changed them to passive form for you)

Clarification (13-15 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

MEANING: Teacher has an introduction about passive voice at first: "The passive voice is used to show intrest in the person or object that experience an action rather than person or object that performs the action." Teacher writes an example of active sentence on the board: "She plays guitar." *Can you think of a way that we can shift our focus on, to the guitar? Draw an arrow from she to the guitar. Write the passive form of the sentence. "The guitar is played by her." Ask CCQs: *What is the new subject? What is the new object? *Are we intrested in guitar or the person who plays the guitar? Remind the students that we use "by" to refer to someone who does the action. FORM: Ask the students to help me write the structure of an active sentence on the board. Active: Subject+verb+object+rest of the sentence Ask them to help you write a correct structure to change a sentence from active to passive. Passive: Object+verb "to be"+past participle +by+subject Review: (Many past participles are the same as past tense) ("to be verbs" for present simple would be am/is/are and for past simple would be was/were) CCQs: *How do you turn it to a question? (Move be in front of the subject) *How do you turn it to a negative sentence? (Ad not after to be verb) Give two examples and ask the students to make past and negative sentence and yes/no question. PRONUNCIATION: *I want you to listen to me while I read the news headlines and find the words thet I say with more stress. repeat the sentences for two times and then, ask if the sound goes up or down. *What about the question form?

Students are given diffrent headlines and they try to write a news story for a newspaper in groups. Groups exchange the writings and discuss about if it is intresting enough that they want to know more about it. monitor.
