Description

In this lesson, students learn about the clothes vocabulary. The lesson starts with a discussion about what are we wearing now. This is followed by flashcards on Powerpoint. Moreover, there is a controlled practice through an activity about clothes patterns. Finally, the lesson ends with a game about different types of clothes.

Main Aims

  • To provide accuracy and to make sure all student learn new vocabulary.
  • The aim of this lesson is to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students through engaging activities. Students will learn to approach challenges with creativity and teamwork, using games and interactive tasks. By the end of the lesson, they will demonstrate the ability to solve simple problems independently and collaboratively.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher starts with short circle time and asks students about the weather. The weather condition can transit the topic to the question of what are we wearing in this weather. Then the teacher plays a song for students to sing and dance. Song: This Is The Way We Get Dressed | Kids Songs | Super Simple.

Exposure (8-15 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

The teacher starts with what color is the puppet wearing and what is he wearing. The puppet's name is Caly (the calculator). He greets students and he wants to learn the new words for clothes. The teacher shares the flashcards on PowerPoint.

Highlighting (5-7 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

The teacher and the puppet (Caly) ask about the students' clothes: What are you wearing? Students ask each other, in pairs what are you wearing? (controlled practice). The teacher needs to be sure all the students have the chance to talk.

Controlled Practice (8-15 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Semi-Controlled Practice (20-35 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

The teacher checks the concept of a wardrobe, asks students what to hang in the wardrobe, and shares the papers with students that they have colored by their own choice of colors before. At this stage, students start to design their own wardrobe. They need to cut the items and stick to their favorite place.

differentiation (6-7 minutes) • Practice the new words

If time allows, the teacher continues the lesson with puzzle activity for advanced students and they can lead students who need more support. This activity is organized as a group station.
