Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Here, I'll start talking about a trip that I had gone with my friends and how it was one of my most memorable days of my life. then I want them to share experiences up to a certain age with the question "what had you already done when you turned 18?"

Highlighting (1-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

When they answered my question in the previous section, I'll choose one of their sentences and write it on the board.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Now I'll clarify the structure of the sentence while asking them some questions about it. then I'll draw a time line and show them the exact time of the tense. also I'll explain them when to use it, but before that I'll compare it with simple past as a short review and Finally I'll give them some general tips with the help of further examples and CCQ.

Controlled Practice (2-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I'll ask them to go to page 149 and do the part B(12A) then after they did it we will check the answers together.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

We will play a game now. students are given pictures of a crash scene before, during and after the crash, and then test each other on their memory of the pictures and which things were in which picture with questions such as "Had the old lady already finished crossing the road when the crash happened?"
