  • To provide listening practice for gist and more detailed comprehension in the context of mishaps

Subsidiary Aims

  • Student will identify the vocabulary for mishaps

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • The students will guess and create context about mishaps from images.

I will start the lesson asking if the know, what is a mishap.

Vocabulary for listening (8-10 minutes) • To identify the vocabulary in context - Meaning form and pronunciation.

Match the words in A to B, to make phrases describing the mishaps. a)You spill 1)your plane b)You over 2)break down c)You´re late 3)your ticket-bag-ID card d)You miss 4)your drink over someone e)You lose 5)sleep f)Your car 6)for school- work- an appointment

Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • Match the listening to the images, put the right order of the images and audio.

Play the audio and mact with the images.

Pre-Listening (5-5 minutes) • To prepare students with a gist and play the audio to match with the images.

Ask the students to explain why the audios match with the images and take notes.

While Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Ask the student to answer the questions: Which of the following questions can you answer about each anecdote: a)Where was the speaker and what were the circumstances? b)Which other people were involved? c)What went wrong? d)How the speaker feel?

Listening (5-5 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned - about the class

Activity 3 Have any of this mishaps ever happened to you? choose an event to tell your partner
