Description

In the lesson the students will learn the secondary colors and at the same time they will be reviewing the common shapes. Students will reinforce by chunks of the language the body parts

Materials

Main Aims

  • Promote the cognitive and creative development of children from 3 to 5 years old through activities related to colors
  • Students will learn the secondary colors, making use of the primary colors by using the rainbow

Subsidiary Aims

  • Students will learn the colors to use them to describe the objects around them developing the listening skill
  • Students will learn the colors to use them to describe the objects around them by repetition using the listening skill. Promote the recognition and identification of primary and secondary colors. To simulate creativity and artistic expressions trough drawing activities. To develop children’s vocabulary and communication through the description of colors

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher will introduce the students by showing them a picture of the rainbow and asking: Do you like rainbows? - After this teacher will do the sign of thumbs up if they like it Then teacher will ask students if they remember the primary colors making use of the canva.

Task 1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Teacher will encourage students to remember and mention the primary colors by showing them flash cards with those colors

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

The teacher will present some new colors “orange, green, pink and purple” making use of flash cards by modeling and making coral drilling Then teacher will play the song “The rainbow song”, making students to listen the song first and then sing together.

Task 2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

After repeating and listening the song teacher will tell students to color their own rainbows with their colors on the notebook. Teacher will play the rainbow song while the students do the activity. After this the teacher will ask students to draw a monster using shapes. (Teacher will model with a picture). Example: draw a purple circle, draw a green rectangle… Students will do their own monster

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Teacher will ask students to show to the class their finished rainbows and check them. The teacher will ask them: What is your favorite color? After this teacher will play with the students reinforcing the secondary colors like the game Simon says.
