Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a debate in the context of social media abuse (Facebook in particular)

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a video about social media

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (20-25 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The class willwatch a short movie about life (over)connected with Facebook.

Productive Task(s) (15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

SS will be divided into two groups and they will find arguments pro and against the massive use of social media

Feedback (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production

Together, T and SS will discuss the possibility to write an article about what came out from the debate
