In this lesson the students are going to learn some new vocabularies about natural disasters.They will also focus on their listening skill.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed listening practice using a listening about natural disasters in the context of If something can go wrong

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of natural disasters in the context of If something can go wrong

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I start to ask students about their vacations.Then I ask them If they experienced any kind of problems during their vacation.Then they are going to answer part a on page 63.

Pre-Reading/Listening (2-3 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will ask students to do part b on page 63 with the whole class while I am showing them pictures of each disaster.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (4-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students are going to listen for the first time and then their going to answer the questions in part c on page 63.Then we will check them with the whole class.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (5-6 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The students are going to listen for the second time and then their going to answer the questions in part d on page 63.Then they will check their answers in pairs and at the end we will check them with the whole class.

Post-Reading/Listening (3-4 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Now I want students to discuss about their experiences in any of the natural disasters and what they did at that time.
