Vocabulary Review (10 minutes): Show visual aids (pictures, postcards, or brochures) related to holidays. Discuss holiday-related vocabulary with the students and ensure they understand key terms. Past Simple Tense Review (10 minutes): Hand out worksheets with past simple irregular verbs. Review the formation and usage of past simple tense with a focus on irregular verbs. Conduct exercises and practice questions related to past simple tense.
Share a sample essay or a portion of an essay titled "My Last Holiday" to provide students with an example of the expected writing style and structure.
Guided Essay Writing (10 minutes): Provide a writing prompt or question related to their last holiday. Guide students in creating a brief outline for their essays, focusing on key points they want to include. Independent Essay Writing (10 minutes): Instruct students to begin writing their essays independently. Encourage them to use the past simple tense to describe their holiday experiences.
Peer Review and Editing (5 minutes): Pair students up to review each other's essays. Provide a checklist or specific criteria for peer editing (e.g., grammar, vocabulary, organization). Encourage constructive feedback.
