Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of an article in the context of weight-loss on magazines

  • To provide practice of adjectives in the context of weight-loss on magazines
  • • To provide gist and scan reading practice highlighting adjectives from a text in the context of a magazine article

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. T greets ss. 2. T displays slides. T asks: a. What do are these? (magazines) b. Do you like magazines? c. Are they engaging? why? d. Do you think they promote values? mention one

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

1. Ss re-organise the text and name each part of it in BORs.

Useful Language (7-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

1. Ss highlight the adjectives from the text in BORs. 2. Ss match each adjective with the definition in BORs. 3. T elicits pronunciation and appropriacy.

Productive Task(s) (14-17 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1. T gives each student a magazine cover. 2. Ss analyse the cover then write an article guided by questions that T provides.

Feedback and Error Correction (7-8 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

1. Peer checking in BORs. T monitors and selects common mistakes to clarify in the main room
