Description

In this lesson, students learn about new words and talking about the subject "Gossip" through a reading text. This is followed by the article which professor Mc Andrew has written and talked about pros and cons of gossiping. Finally there is Post-Reading stage that students will answer the questions according to the reading text and speak about it.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher starts talking about a party where relatives got together and shared their information about other private life and behavior in family. It comes to the main topic which is Gossip. She wants the students to talk about their opinions and their feelings toward gossiping.

Pre-Reading/Listening (12-15 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this stage the teacher is going to to teach students some Key vocabularies of the text using some pictures to help them learn better. The students are going to guess the action of the pictures to notice the specific vocab. The teacher will help them by explanation and synonym of the vocabs. Finally the teacher write the key words with their part of speech on the board

While-Reading/Listening #1 (0-2 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students are going to answer the question: What does the professor McAndrew think about Gossiping? The teacher assigns each paragraph of context to one of the students and asks them give a summary of it in the form of an answer to the question after 2 minutes and share it with the class.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The Students are going to read the text deeper and answer some True or False questions related to the text. They will check the answer in pairs and then with whole class.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The students are going to be divided into groups of 4 and answer the questions: 1, Are the men more gossipers or woman? 2, Is it true that the way men and women gossip is different? why?
