Procedure (37-51 minutes)
T asks Ss to create two groups and choose a representative for each group for the board race. T writes the questions in the present perfect tense on WB and starts the race.
T informs Ss saying that they will be doing a listen & check activity. T shows Ss the following question "Which tense is used in the listening?" on WB and asks Ss to listen carefully. T starts the audio. After Ss share their answers, T gives feedback.
T shares the transcript of the audio on WB and draws Ss' attention to the target language by pointing out the sentences with present perfect.
T draws a timeline on the board and explains that the present perfect tense is used to talk about actions or experiences that happened at an unspecified time in the past but have relevance to the present. Then, to introduce the words "already" and "yet" as adverbs used with the present perfect where "already" is used in positive sentences, and "yet" is used in questions and negative sentences, T divides WB into two sections and writes the following sentences: "My husband has already donated blood to Kızılay." "I have already visited two different cities this summer." "We haven't done any charity work for homeless people yet." "Berna hasn't returned to Turkey yet." T underlines the adverbs and time phrases in the sentences. T elicits the difference between meaning and structure and explains the difference between the sentences. Then, T highlights the pronunciation of "already" and "yet" and asks Ss to repeat after her. Then, T asks Ss to complete the rules in 4c. T checks the answers.
T tells Ss that first they will put the adverbs in brackets in the correct places and sentences and then they will listen and check their answers. After listening & checking, T gives quick feedback to Ss and clarifies why Ss should use "already" or "yet" for each sentence.
T shows several pictures of places and experiences on WB and tells Ss they will pick a picture and make a sentence with "already" or "yet". After saying the sentence to WC, S will throw the ball to one of his classmates and ask a question by choosing a picture from the board. S who answers the question will throw the ball to another classmate and ask a question and S will make a sentence with "already" or "yet" by choosing a picture from WB.
