Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about a couple's coincidence in the context of heart problems

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of health and hospital related vocabulary in the context of heart diseases

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher will talk about destiny, providing a short story about cinderella and ask students if they have similar fantasies about meeting their love of life.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

The teacher is going to teach some key words using pictures and the students will try to match the vocabulary on board with the pictures.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students are going to guess the story by taking a look at the title and guess the ending of the story by reading the last paragraph. PAGE 99

While-Reading/Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The students will read the text silently and answer the questions above. they will check the answers in pair and then with the class.

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

the students will be put into groups and talk about their fantasy of meeting their soulmate or if they believe in soulmates
