A Boring Weekend - Don't tell anybody!

Description

In this lesson, students learn some new vocabularies based on the topic '' lies that people tell on internet on purpose ''. The session will start with a conversation about some of the lies we have told. We will try to work on comprehending the text, It will be followed up with some controlled practice based on the text and finally some free practice via a discussion about their opinion about social media and the advancement we've had in world.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed reading practice using a text about Lies people tell on social media in the context of Boring weekend don't tell anybody

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification of Lies and Falsify for personal benefits in the context of Boring weekend don't tell anybody

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher will start the conversation by mentioning some of the lies he has told in any kind of situation. His main focus is to change the class concentration to the subject that is going to get taught. The class will join him in this discussion and talk about some of their experiences.

Pre-Reading/Listening (11-13 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

In this part the teacher is going to teach the students some new and important vocabularies by using pictures in powerpoint to help them in learning phase. The students will try to guess the word by some hints that is available in every slide. Then the students will be asked about their opinions about the title of the text.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

The students will be asked the question, what is the reason people lie on social media. They will be given 2-3 minuets to find the answer '' because their life is boring '' in the text and provide it to the teacher.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (7-9 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

The student will read the text deeper and answer the part C in page 34 that is based on the text. They will do this part in pairs and then the teacher will ask every group one of the questions.

Post-Reading/Listening (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

The class will have an speaking practice via talking about their opinion related to the advancement of science and technology.
