Description

In this lesson, students will only understand the meaning of the vocabulary and be introduced to phonics list 2 ( Silent E and Long Vowels a, e, i, o, u) and sight words list 2.

Materials

Abc Vocabulary Booklet
Abc PPT- Vocabulary List 2
Abc PPT- Phonics List 2 (Silent E and Long Vowels a, e, i, o, u)

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of vocabulary list 2, sight words list 2 and phonics words list 2
  • To provide clarification of the Silent E and Long Vowels a, e, i, o, u

Subsidiary Aims

  • To expand the students knowledge and enhance their vocabulary to enhance their writing skills

Procedure

Spelling Test #1 (10-15 minutes) • Test SS on previous vocab list # 1

Read to SS the words for the spelling test

Exposure and Clarification (20-30 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation and To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

-Begin with the vocabulary and sight words presentation -Move to the phonics presentation -Practice 1 Worksheet from the Phonics presentation

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

CW P for this section: 18, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25 -Let SS practice in their groups in their vocabulary booklets p: 20 -Answer it as a class quickly

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

-As a class we do P. 24 together (taking the answers from the SS)

Free Practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

-Play jigsaw game with students in groups
