Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show some pictures of my last weekend to my students and ask them about weather they think I had a good holiday or a bad one.

Exposure (2-4 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will ask my students to talk about their last weekend and the way they spent it.

Highlighting (1-2 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will write some of the sentences that my students make on the board in the past simple form.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will draw a timeline on the board to clarify the use of past simple sentences. Sentence stress will be worked on as well.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do the exercise on page 142 in grammar bank individually. They are given 5 minutes to do the task. After that the answers will be checked in pairs and then with the whole class.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students to talk about the best holiday that they had in groups of 3 and at the end they will share their idea about how well they think their classmates have spent their holiday,
