Description

In this lesson, trainees learn about manufacturing equipment through listening to a conversation between a company owner and a sales representative.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T displays a power point slide showing some photos proper for evening activities. T asks trainees "what is your plan for this evening?" T takes feedback from some trainees. T moves on to the lead in stage where he displays a photo represents a mobile, a laptop and a cart with some items and supplies. This photos refers to shopping. T divides trainees into three groups T asks trainees to discuss the following question "What is your type of shopping? ". Trainees, should choose one of the two options provided by the teacher on the screen of both of them. Trainees should justify their chose. T allocates time. T monitors trainees while they discussing the two options. T takes general notes. T provides assistance T takes feedback

Pre-Reading/Listening (7-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

T displays some photos on the smart screen and elicits the meaning from trainees. T models pronouncing the new words. Then, trainees repeat chorally, individually and in groups. T focuses on the definition of new words T asks CCQs T continues repeating the same stages to finish all photos.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (4-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T explains the task to trainees "true/false" statement "you are going to listen to a conversation between a customer and a sales rep." The man is placing an order for some equipment. T instructs trainees to read the statement displayed on the screen T explains any difficult words for trainees T instructs trainees to listen and decide whether the statement is true or false. T plays the audio after modifying the playback speed into 75% T instructs trainees to decide if the statement true or false individually T instructs trainees for peer-check T takes feedback T asks CCQs to ensure that trainees understood the main idea of the conversation

While-Reading/Listening #2 (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Task 1 T explains the task to trainees "true/false" statement "You will listen again to the conversation between the customer and the sales rep." T instructs trainees to read the statements displayed on the screen T explains any difficult words for trainees T instructs trainees to listen and decide whether the statements are true or false. T plays the audio after modifying the playback speed to 75% T instructs trainees to decide if the statements are true or false individually T requires trainees to peer-check T takes feedback T asks CCQs to ensure that trainees understand the details of the conversation Task 2 the purpose of this task is to expose trainees to the targeted language. T distributes a copy of the audio script with some words omitted T explains the task to trainees Trainees listen and complete the conversation with the missing words T displays the answers and asks trainees to check and correct their answers

Post-Reading/Listening (7-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
