Description

To introduce and practice different sets of phrases regarding behavior and attitude, helping students develop a more nuanced and expressive vocabulary to describe how people act and their demeanor.

Materials

Main Aims

  • The main aim of introducing and practicing a variety of phrases related to behavior and attitude is to enhance students' vocabulary and communication skills, enabling them to effectively describe and understand different behaviors and attitudes in both personal and professional contexts.

Subsidiary Aims

  • Effective Communication: Enhance students' ability to convey their thoughts and feelings by selecting precise words for describing behaviors and attitudes.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T says welcome to the students and engage them with a brief discussion. T asks students to share their thoughts on one or two questions related to behavior and attitude. For example: 1- How does attitude affect teamwork and collaboration? 2- What do you think are the qualities needed to be a good team player? T nominates 1-2 students for answering the last questions.

Text work (3-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

T gives instructions of the task T sends the link of Google form (text 1) T shares screen with SS T shows the task and explain it: "Now, you will read this short text and then proceed to answer the two questions at the end. These questions are about the text. You will have 2-3 minutes to answer individually, and then you will share your answers with a peer in breakout rooms. Do you understand the activity, or do you have any questions?" T sets a timer for 3 min T conducts to OCFB 2min

Langauge Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

T says ¨now let's continue with the following activity¨ T sends the link of Google form T shares screen with students T gives instructions: ¨In this activity, first choose the MEANING of the following three words, then select to which GROUP they belong. For this activity, you will have 2-3 minutes, and it is individual work.¨ T close screen-shared and continues with explaining: ¨Now you're working in peers and compare your answers with your classmate ¨ T sets and time for 2- 3 minutes T monitors break-out rooms T helps with doubts T closes break-out rooms T conducts to OCFB 3-4 min T answers questions from SS

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

T says ¨Now we're having another task¨ T asks student: How do feel right now? Just to notify everything goes well with the lesson. T sends the link of Google form (controlled practice) T shares screen with SS T gives instructions: ¨ Now please complete the sentences by filling in the gaps with the appropriate word from the word bank below and use the correct form of each word. Individual 2-3 min. T explains again the part of APPROPRIATE WORD FORM to SS. T sets a timer for 3 min T clases screen-shared and conducts to break-out rooms and explains SS they will compare answers with a classmate during 3 min T creates break-rooms T monitors the break-rooms T clases break-rooms T conducts to OCFB 2-3

Freer Practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

T says ¨Now our last task¨ T sends the link of Google Jamboard T shares screen with SS T explains the last task: "In this group discussion activity, we will reflect individually on the provided questions related to behavior and attitude. Then, within your assigned group (Group A or Group B), take turns sharing your personal experiences and responses to these questions, incorporating specific examples from your own life. Actively engage in the discussion by asking questions for clarification and providing feedback on your peers' stories. T asks students if they have any troubles with activity instructions T creates break-out rooms T sets a timer of 5 min T monitors break-out rooms T closes break-out rooms T switches the groups to have a deepen talk with each classmate T sets a timer of 5 min T monitors break-out rooms T close break-out rooms T conducts feedback on the task (During the discussion, the teacher should actively listen to each student's contributions, paying attention to the use of the target language (TL) related to behavior and attitude.)
