Main Aims

  • Improve listening skills by exposing students to native speakers and speech patterns when discussing future plans, enhancing their ability to understand real-world conversations.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T begins the class by greeting your students and asking a general question related to the topic: "How important do you think it is for a university graduate to find a job in their field of study?" T divides the class into small groups of 3-4 students. T asks: "Is it easy for graduates to find a job in your country? What factors make it easy or difficult?" T encourages them to share their personal experiences or knowledge about job opportunities for graduates in their respective countries.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

T presents two audios from 2b as a Gist task. They listen and answer, then check answers in Google Forms T asks students to open the google form and answer two questions about the text: Who is talking? What are they talking about? (3 mins) 3. T shows answers in the screen and shows the answers. 4. T nominate a S and ask what sentence or words gave him/the answer

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

T shares screen to show the ANALYSIS google form. T instructs the SS “You’ll have 3 minutes to read and answer the following questions. T asks CCQ: What are we doing? (reading individually and choose answer in the questions below) How much time do you have? (3 minutes) T asks CCQ: Are we using the private chat? (No) T creates the breakout rooms and sets the time (2 minutes). After the 2 minutes, T shows the answers to the students Controlled Practice Adapt Ex. 1 on page 51 to provide controlled practice of the language.  Learners do this individually, then check in OCFB. Google Forms, Slides or Wordwall Freer Practice Use Ex. 2 or design a communicative task for Freer Practice. Conduct Feedback and DEC.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

T shares screen and show the transcription of the recordings which has two people talking and their future plans 3. T shows answers in the screen 4. T nominate a S and ask what sentence gave him/the answer (meetings, schedule) T covers Meaning, Form and Pronunciation of the language.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

T gets the SS attention. “Now, for our final task..” T shares screen in “Controlled practice google form”. T based on the three sentences: look at the sentences and answer the following questions. After the time, teacher shows the answers and ask students what word or expressions help them to discover the correct answer.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

T sends SS to breaking rooms for two mins to discuss the following future plans: Choose three expressions and write some future plans -I'm about to -I'm going to -I will... -I am hoping to -I am thinking of
