Procedure (35-47 minutes)
1. Greet ss. 1min 2. Show slides with pictures of stressful/annoying situations. Ask ss what those pictures have in common. 2min 3. If there is time, ask ss which of those situations do they find annoying. 2min
1. T plays the recording for gist. 2:30min 2. T asks: a. How do the speaker refer to what others said? b. Do they use the same words the other person used? 3min
MEANING a. Ss will match the direct speech sentences with the reported speech one that has the same meaning. b. Ask CCQs. 4min FORM a. Ss will identify the changes using the past sentences guided by CCQs. b. Ss will fill the gaps to find out the formula for reported speech in BORs. BEFORE THIS: ask ss if they know what are direct and indirect objects 4-5min PRONUNCIATION a. Nominate ss to say one sentence. b. T models and drills chorally and individually. c. Ask ss to recognise where's the stress, if there is connected speech and if the intonation raises or falls. 4min
1. Individually, ss will be given direct speech sentences and two verb options (say, tell). They have to rewrite the sentence and decide which clause follows the verb. 4min 2. Ss will go to BORs to compare answers. 2min 3. Feedback 2min
1. T will give instructions. "Now you are going to share an experience of something you find stressful or annoying using reported speech." 2. T will provide an example. 1min 3. Ss will discuss in BORs their experiences. (pairs or groups of three) 4 min 4. In the main room, Ss will report what their peers told them. 3min 5. Feedback. 3min
