In this lesson the students are going to learn how to use the word "For" and "Since" with the present perfect through a story about an allergic that has been with the teacher since childhood. It will followed by a speaking task about have students experienced any illness that has been with them since their childhood, if yes; How long they have ?

Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I start to coughing and immediately explain that I have started coughing since I ate grape last night. I have had an allergy for 15 years. I have tolerated this illness since I was a child.

Exposure (3-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this stage I ask my students if they had a disease that has been with them since childhood, If they had, how long have they tolerated this illness? And ask them to tell their story

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will write some present perfect sentence on the board. I will choose from my students' sentences and if some of them have made some wrong sentence I will write the correct present perfect form on the board especially the sentences with for and since. I will review and emphasize on present perfect tense.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will choose two sentences that include "for" and "since" and start eliciting the meaning by drawing a timeline on the board and showing my students when this tense refers to and illustrate when they can use "for" and "since". I am going to make some example for them with "for" and "since" then, ask them to help me to find out the structure and write it on the board. The intonation will be focused on as well.

Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do the exercise on page 143 part a and b individually and then going to check in pairs. The answer will be checked with the whole class at the end. They have 6 minutes to do the task individually and check in pairs. I will show them the page of the exercise in my power point.

Free Practice (5-9 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I will ask my students to write and be prepared for a conversation which has present perfect tense with "for" and "since" in pairs. Then I ask them to perform their conversation in class for everyone. They have 9 minute to be prepared for a conversation with present perfect tense + for + since
