To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of describing things
Procedure (30-40 minutes)
The teacher is going to ask the students the following question: Have you ever visited an antique store? What kind of things would you buy there?
The students are going to read a short conversation in 1 minute. Then, the teacher will ask to the students the following questions: What is the conversation about? Are the adjectives positive or negative in the conversation? The students will share their answers.
The students are going to identify the adjectives that describe the object mentioned in the conversation and the teacher will write them down in the virtual whiteboard.
MEANING Using the adjectives taken from the previous activity, the students are going to match the words with the correct definition. At the end, they can say if the adjective is Positive (+) Negative (-) or Neutral (/) FORM Using the same adjectives, the students are going to match them with the corrcet synonym. PRONUNCIATION The teacher choose two adjectives from the dialogue to practice the pronunciation: a. antique /ænˈtik/ b. decrepit /dɪˈkrɛpɪt/
The students are going to fill in the blanks using the correct adjective in a sentence.
The students are going to create a sentence using these adjectives: cheap ,affordable, inexpensive. At the end, the students are going to share their sentences with the whole class.
