Description

By the end of this lesson the students will be able to identify, differentiate the form and use different phrases to express the amount of quantity of a noun used in a sentence. The will be able to master usage for each noun whether countable or non countable. Also they will apply the form in negative and positive structure.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of use quantifires in the context of Recycling

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a discussion in the context of raising awareness for seperating trash

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

leading in with a personal situation to get SS to think about what harm can a piece of trash cause to enviroment.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases

pre-teaching vocabulary ( recycling - recycling containers - environment) listening to the text and answering gist questions.

Task (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

listening again to the text and matching parts of the sentences to elicit different quantifiers meaning.

Language Analysis (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

using marker sentences from the previous exercise to illustrate: is the phrase used for negative of positive form of can be used for either? does the phrase indicates a large amount of a small amount? is it used for countable of non countable of either? then showing a comparison chart to simplify the idea.

Language controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

using specific element of the sentence they will create two sentences including quantifiers. one sentence will be in a negative form and another in the positive form. they will share ideas in groups and they will be monitored and corrected.

Language freer practice (5-8 minutes) • to let students use productive language using context

I will show them a picture of a messy public garden. Now I will divide then into groups to come up with a name for the park and ideas for planning an awareness day for recycling and protecting environment. They will be monitored, notes will be taken and after they finish we can discuss ideas and give them some language feedback.
