Description

I am going to test and check the skills that the students were taught and understood through the previous lessons. The session starts by dividing the class into two groups and each group nominates a spokesperson and a leader. The leader chooses the name of the group. The teacher writes the names of the two groups on the board. The teacher leads a competition session in a cooperative frame.

Materials

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher plays a video. The teacher shows students some questions. The teacher asks students to discuss the questions in groups. The students will report to the teacher the answers to the discussion questions. The teacher gives feed back.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

In groups, the teacher asks students to work and find the answers for the pages in the workbook and booklet relevant to the previous lessons. The students report their answers to the teacher. The teacher gives feedback and keeps scores for each group for gamification.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Through the feedback, the teacher diagnoses the points of weaknesses and builds up activities through which students rectify their errors and correct their mistakes. The teacher asks some students to recap and explain the mistakes and justify their answers.

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

The teacher divides the class into groups. The teacher gives them test two based on the errors they made in test one to check their understanding and ability to evaluate and rectify their mistakes.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Each group is asked to prepare a five-minute presentation. The group that succeeds in using as much of the target language as they could is the winner. The teacher asks some students to write their presentation on the board while other students present. the teacher monitors and takes notes of good and bad structures. The teacher gives feedback.

Home assignment • checking the students’ understanding of what was given throughout the lesson.

Ask the students to answer workbook exercises.
