Description

This is a Lexis lesson who's intention is to provide students to develop skills with regards to vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and collocations.

Main Aims

  • To introduce and practice different sets of phrases regarding behavior and attitude.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide deduction reading practice using a text about workplace attitudes and behaviors

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1. I will show students 2 questions pertaining to the topic of today's lesson. Question 1: What do you think are the qualities needed to be a good team player? Question 2: Think of a team you have enjoyed working with in the past. (example: Sports team, Work Team, school group assignment) What made you a good team? 2. I will give my brief answers to these questions then split the class into breakout rooms to discuss. (2 minutes)

Exposure/Text-work (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

1. I will explain the assignment to the students where they have to fill in the blank in a passage from a word bank. -The passages describes workers. The words in the word bank are not necessarily in the correct form. Specifically number 3. 2. I will provide students with the link. Link to assignment: https://wordwall.net/resource/59790281/behavior-and-attitude-vocab-assignment (3 minutes) 4. Afterward I will conduct OCFB.

Clarification (10-12 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

1. I will have students work on the following assignment. https://forms.gle/i6SprEhG5zhSh27C9 (3-4 minutes) I will explain instructions and go over pronunciation at this time. 2. I will have students work individually. 4. After I conduct OCFB on the assignment. Going over difficult questions.

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

1.Next I will have students test their knowledge by having them work individually on the following assignment 2. I will explain instruction https://forms.gle/G211ZYKUeo5jBzD57 (2-3 minutes) 3. After I will have them check in pairs (1-2 minute) I will then share the answer key and go over any difficult questions.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

1. To practice their knowledge on the newly acquired phrases, I will have the learners break out into breakout groups and discuss the following question. "In a team environment, conflicts can arise. Describe a situation where you encountered a team member who had a reputation for being a "troublemaker." How was the situation handled?" "What are characteristics of good leaders or managers you have experienced in you life?" (5minutes) 2. I will encourage them to use the vocab learned for the discussion. 3. OCFB 4. I will go over any complicated topics or questions.
