In this lesson, students learn about the verb tense Present perfect to talk about their life experiences.

Materials

Abc Power point presentation

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency by using the present perfect tense in the context of life experiences in general

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of language related to the present perfect tense

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Teacher shares screen with Power Point presentation. Teacher nominates students to read a text aloud, a personal essay made by one former student.

Exposure (3-5 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Teacher highlights examples with the Present Perfect tense taken from the personal essay.

Useful Language (5-5 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Teacher elicits students to read the concept or explanation for present perfect. Teacher highlights form of the tense, but students complete the charts on screen to make up the rules in affirmative, negative and interrogative. Then, students solve one exercise with sentences. (Choose the correct form of the verb)

Productive Task(s) (10-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students speaking practice. Students ask each other questions about their life experiences with pictures shown on screen and on wordwall (online resource ).

Feedback and Error Correction (5-5 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Teacher provides feedback to students.
