Speaking Lesson
Elementary level
Main Aims
-
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of describing feelings.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide deduction listening practice using a text about conversation in the context of describing feelings.
Procedure (32-45 minutes)
Show pictures in Slides and ask the question: "How do the people feel in each of the pictures? You can use the words in the box to describe." If I don't get any answers I will specifically mention a student and ask the question. CCQ's: How do they look like? What are their emotions?
Give the students the form and explain: "Now we are going to listen carefully to three conversations. You need to choose how the person feels." ICQ's: How many conversations are we going to listen? Do we need to choose how the person feels? Check the activity in OCF by asking each students to read the question and eliciting the answer.
Move to Slides again and provide M and P. "Please move the stickers to the correct column. You need to decide if the feeling is a good feeling or a bad feeling." Do the first example together. Give 2 or 3 minutes. Check this in OFB. Continue to the stress syllable exercise. "For this exercise you need to find the stress syllable. Do the first one together. CCQ's: Where is the strongest syllable? Check this in OCF while playing the audio.
Give students the optional questions to ask each other. For this activity, at least 4 students will be great to divide into BoR, but if necessary, do this in OC. Make students ask each other the questions in the board. Give them 4 minutes to talk and then role the BoR. Do this two or three times. If we have more time, we can talk about our first times.
Choose two or three mistakes from the productive task and correct them in OCF.
