Materials
Main Aims
-
To provide clarification of Present simple in the context of jobs
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide listening skills of students
Procedure (70-89 minutes)
I will talk about jobs. Ask Qs about their own jobs or their parents' jobs. Who works? What is your job? Do you like your job? Whose mother work? What is her job? Does she have any free time?
I'll give the instruction that Ss need to find out the jobs of two persons from the text by listening to the audio. We listen to the audio then Ss answer to my questions: What is Andrew's job? Does he live in New Zealand? Does Claudia teach at school? Where does she work?
They will do exercise two and I will ask them to tell me the verbs and I write them on the board. Then I will introduce 3rd person singular. Rule: When we talk about a 3rd person (he, she, it) we write -s or -es at the end of the verb. They write the verbs in the correct places (EX 3). I will play the audio and they will check their answers.
We do two exapmles together to explain the activity. Students will fill the gaps then we will check them aloud.
I will ask them to talk about what they've remember about Andrew and Claudia in pairs, then nominate them to talk about their conversations. I will give them 3 minutes to complete exercise 5, after that we will check their answers.
In this stage I will teach positive, negative, and question forms of present simple tense. First I will ask a student "What time do you get up?" she will say "I get up at 7 o'clock". I will say "She gets up at 7 o'clock". I will do the same with a few students to demonstrate these present simple sentences in the third person singular form. Then I will change them to negative and question forms too. I will ask them to complete exercise one and check their answers.
I will ask them to answer exercise two then they will check their answers in pairs. I will play the audio to make them sure about their answers.
I will ask them to talk about their own routine activities in groups of 4, then I want them to talk about one of his/her friend's activities.
