Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (15-20 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask the Ss to close their eyes and imagine themselves to be the happiest they've ever been, then have them tell you what it was that made them feel so? what is it that gives them pleasure? what are some things they're enthusiastic about? what do they want in life? what does happiness depend on? what can each of them do to live a happier life?

Exposure (3-3 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ss will have to skim-read the assigned passage within the set time frame.

Highlighting (3-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

According to the passage, what should you do to become happier? could you become happier if you just practice?

Clarification (7-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

clarify parts of the passage that might be confusing for the Ss.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

have them match the headlines from activity 4 with each section.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

have them calculate their scores- How happy are they?

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Have them talk in pairs. what do they think they should do to be happier and live a more fulfilling life.
