Description

In this lesson students will review the grammar through a reading. Designed according to ESA. It starts with an engagement based on the reading topic. They'll study about families with all boys and all girls. They're going to share their experiences. Working on comprehension and finally a speaking activity.

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of Family
  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about Sons and daughters in the context of Family

  • To provide review of Have to , must , should in the context of Family

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1.I'll start with writing " all-boy family and all-girl family on the WB to elicit their meaning and difference. 2. I'll ask that which of them have just sisters or brothers or knowing a family like that. 3. I'll give them 1 minute to talk about the type of their families in pairs. ( ask some ICQ)

Pre-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1. I'll write some adjectives on the WB and ask them which ones refer to boys or girls and why do you think that?. 2. Then I'll ask them to think and describe themselves with at least 3 of adj and Bring them in front of the class and encourage them to talk with more confidence.

While-Reading (5-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

I'll pre teach some Words and write some of them on the WB to ask them for finding in the text in pairs. Eliciting the meanings by the context and showing some pictures.

While-Reading (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading tasks

1. I'll give them two different parts f reading, ask them to read it in 3 minutes and answer tasks of the "family part" 2. In 2 minutes explain their different texts to each other in pairs. 3. Then they should read the "swap part" in 3 minutes and answer tasks. 4. I'll ask them was it something that they expected? Which part ? And I'll elicit the answers.

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Give them 5 minutes to talk about the speaking task in GP and getting some FB.
