Description

In this lesson, students practice their listening skill by listening to an audio about a man experiencing sky diving for the first time. It will start with a lead in about dangerous sports or experience presents, followed by listening tasks and finally speaking about their own experiences and expectations

Main Aims

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll show Ss a short video about skydiving I'll ask them a few questions about the topic to get their opinions I'll send them to BoRs to discuss further I'll get feedback asking one S about another S's opinion Then I'll show a picture of Russell inviting Ss for the listening

Pre- Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I'll show the task on the slide I'll give Ss 1 min or less to read the phrases I'll ask Ss to listen to match the phrases to the pictures I'll play the audio one time We'll check answers together as a class

While-Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I'll show the question for the first gist task I'll give Ss a minute to read the questions I'll ask Ss to take notes I'll play the audio I'll elicit answers from Ss

While-Listening #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I'll show the question for the detailed task I'll give Ss a minute to read the sentences I'll ask Ss to take notes I'll play the audio twice I'll send Ss to BoRs to check answers together I'll elicit answers from Ss

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I'll give Ss several questions to work on regarding the topic I'll give them several minutes to prepare their notes before speaking I'll send them to BoRs to find out one thing about their partners and share to the group I'll monitor the rooms writing down notes for my DEC
