T shows Ss a YouTube video where people get surprised with gifts. T asks the following questions: Do you like surprises? Why? When was the last time you felt surprised? When was the last time you surprised someone? Ss discuss among themselves in BOR and share answers afterwards in whole class feedback.
Teacher will present an audio recording where a married couple talk about their day. SS will listen and tick the topics they discussed during the conversation. SS will compare answers in BOR and share with the class. T will show answers on next slide for SS to compare.
T will show SS an audio with phrases they can use to say they are surprised or not surprised. SS will fill in the blanks to complete the phrase. SS will practice pronunciation and intonation.
SS will read a conversation and cross out the wrong response. They will work in pairs and compare answers. T will demo the task beforehand.
SS will imagine they had a very good or very bad day. Use these ideas (or their own) and discuss with a partner in BOR. Then they'll siwtch. You ended up in jail. You fell in love. You ended up in the hospital. You met an amazing person DEC.
