In this lesson, students will learn the first conditional in the affirmative form and the substitution of will with might, in the context of a new building project.

Main Aims

  • To enable students to use affirmative sentences of the first conditional to talk about possible building projects.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give students opportunity to practice intonation and sentence stress.To practice their speaking skills to talk about possible building projects happening in their city or neighborhood.

Procedure

Lead-In • To provide students with an opportunity to speak about the topic of a new building project.

Show the book picture of an abandoned factory. Words: Cinema? Shopping center? (plus Have ss choose one project for the building: cinema or shopping center. Open classroom discussion. CAMERA OFF - 2 minutes OFCB with one or two ss - 2 min

Exposure • To provide students with and audio for context and a True/False mini-task to extract the grammar topic.

Show the book picture with audio. CHECK SETTINGS Recontextualize and Instructions for listening -Now, listen to two people's opinions about this project. - 2 min True/False activity SS do it independently - 1 min OFCB with only 2 ss - 3 min

Clarification • To provide students with guided discovery to understand MFP of the first conditional.To enable students to use intonation correctly for this type of sentences.
