Description

This lesson aims to give the ss the chance to practice reading for gist and details as well as it gives a bunch of new vocabulary that enhances the ss'' ability to express themselves more as and elementary-leveled student.

Main Aims

  • To provide process writing practice of a report in the context of going on holiday.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist reading practice using a text about holiday report in the context of going on holiday.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage, I'm going to show the ss some photos of different famous places and ask them where they would like to go most and why

Exposure (10-15 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Students here are going to be shown some questions and asked to read a holiday report to be able to match the questions with the suitable paragraphs.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

As the students have already studied the 'Past simple tense', they will be asked to underline all the past forms in the reading text which was exposed to them in the last stage and determine whether it's a regular or irregular verb.

Productive Task(s) (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

In this stage, the ss are asked to write their own holiday reports of about (3-5) sentences using the questions shown before to help them form sentences.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

The last step is to give a WC feedback asking ss to read some of what they wrote about their report and correct any errors if there were any.
