Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll kick off the session so I'll greet ss first. I'll show the first slide and ask them when was your last holiday? where did you go? I'll show the picture from the book and say this is Alex and his girlfriend. Where do you think they are? What are they doing? I'll invite ss to take part and talk.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

I'll say let's read about Alex's holiday and find out more about it. I'll show ss a table of questions adapted from the SB questionnaire along side with the text. I'll ask ss to read alone to answer the questions. I'll ask them to take notes on paper and give them 7 min to read. I'll ask ICQS: Will you read alone? yes Do you have to answers these questions? yes Will you need pen and paper? yes How much time do you have? 7 min I'll ask them to check answers together in the BoRs. I'll monitor the rooms. Whole class feedback: I'll ask some of the questions and invite them to answers

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I'll show a time line and ask ss when did Alex visit Rome? now, in the past or in the future Then I'll show ss another table with questions to get them to talk about their own past holidays. where did you go? What did you buy? Did you enjoy? I'll ask ss to take a screen shot of the questions and ask each other in the BoRs, you can take notes in 2 min ICQS: How much time do you have? 2 min Will you take notes? yes For feedback, I'll ask one S to share any info about another S e.g. where did Dina go Shimaa?

Productive Task (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

It's writing time now. I'll set the task by giving instructions while showing the text or my own writing as a sample: I'll ask ss to write 3 to 4 paragraphs giving answers to the previous questions. I'll send the link of Padlet and ask them to start writing, they have 7 min. If they can't use the link ICQs: How many paragraphs will you write? 3 or 4 How much time do we have? 7 min Will you use the questions to guide you? yes

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I'll share the Padlet on the screen so that all ss can see their writings. I'll pick one story to read aloud. I'll highlight good sentences and give complements. I'll open the whiteboard and write 1 or 2 mistakes and ask ss what's the problem with these What can we do to make it right Finally thank ss for their efforts.
