Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will show ss pictures of famous techie/ techno-phobic people like Elon Musk I will ask ss about them to try complete the sentence under the picture with info if they know this person I will draw attention to the text

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I will give ss 1 min to read the definitions alone I will tell ss they will work in groups to match the word in the box to their definitions I will ask ICQs before they start to check understanding

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will ask ss to tell me what does a technophobe mean to elicit a sentence with who in it. I will show sentences with the target language on the PPT slides. I will start asking CCQs to elicit and clarify the form and use such as: Do you see a group of words with a verb? yes does it give information about a person, thing, place... etc? yes is it used here to avoid repeating information? yes we use who for people? yes if I omit this clause, will it still make sense? no what comes after who, which or where? verb + complementing sentences is there a comma before or after the relative clause? no Then I will model a full sentence asking ss where is the stress in the sentence. I will do choral drilling followed by individual drilling

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will present the analysis box and ask ss to complete the sentences to check their understanding of the rules.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

I'll tell ss that its time to practice. I'll tell the ss to combine the sentences and rewrite with " who, where and which " in pairs. I'll ask ICQs Giving ss 5 mins to do it and check the activity in pairs. I'll ask the ss to read aloud the sentences. Check for misuse or mispronunciation. Give feedback.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

I'll have ss select some photos they’d like to talk about from their phones in the same style as the previous exercise I'll allow time to write notes before they describe the pics to their group I'll give them prompts to help I'll give feedback
