Description

In this lesson plan, students will practice listening for details. Through listening certain target language will be highlighted to be put to use while speaking.

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson, Students will be able to produce useful language while giving reviews correctly and fluently

Subsidiary Aims

  • By the end of this lesson, Students will have listened for specific information to infer useful language on how to give reviews.

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

ss will rate the activities shown in the slide individually then compare their opinions as a class. Using pictures, I'll check that ss know the words in the box. I'll model and drill any new words before presenting the words on the slides.

Exposure/ Useful language (8-10 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through listening

Ss will listen to 3 speakers and make notes. I'll provide them with a table to fill in (handout). I'll send them to breakout rooms to pair check, then provide tape script as an answer key(handout). I'll highlight bits of the target language on the slides, I'll model and drill as well.

Productive Task (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

I'll have Ss choose something from ex1 (lead in) that they’d like to talk about. I'll provide them with the questions to answer and the “useful language” prompts (handout) I'll allow 5 or more mins for ss to make notes and prepare what they’re going to say. Task starts in breakout rooms In pairs, ss tell each other about their chosen topics

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

I'll have ss back in the main room I'll write down my notes from monitoring and share with the whole class to correct any common mistakes I'll model and drill any needed language
