Main Aims

  • To provide practice of present continues in the context of current moment

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of what are you doing(current moment)

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Play the song and ask students to listen for all the words ending with β€˜ingβ€˜. After the song, let the student to elicit the tens and ask students what present continuous words they can remember and write them on the board.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

distribute a work sheet to choose and fill in the blank, underline the key word now or in the moment make sure they understand the instructions use icqs make one or two sentences together with the students to give them a clear example Provide visual feedback on the board

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

act out the present continuous verb as you are saying it. For example, pick up a book and pretend to read it and say β€˜ I am reading.’ Do the same with the other present continuous verbs from the song. show flash cards to make more sentences using present continues form teach them when I have to use this tens and what are the key words or the situations we have to use the verb and what is the formula of the present continues

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

give flash cards randomly ask the students to form sentences to describe the action in the flash card using present simple tens

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

a role play exercise to let one of the students to act as a blind person, other students make many actions and take a turn to describe what is happening right now to the blind person
