Procedure (39-49 minutes)
T demonstrates SS pictures of different jobs. T elicits names of the jobs. T asks which one SS would like to do most/least and why. PW/GW in BR.
1. T elicits the meaning of the following phrases: I’d like to… I wouldn’t mind doing it… I wouldn’t like to 2. T asks SS to distribute TL between 3 categories and explain their choice in pairs/groups: I’d like to… I wouldn’t mind doing it… I wouldn’t like to TL: You have to be physically fit. You have to be good with money/numbers. You need good people skills. You have to be very well-organised. You have to be very creative. You need special training and qualifications. You have to work long hours. It’s very secure. It’s well-paid. It's badly-paid. It's stressful. It’s very competitive. It’s challenging. There's a lot of responsibility. There are lots of opportunities to travel.
T elicits meaning, form and pronunciation of each vocabulary item.
T sets a test task. SS complete the task individually, then check in pairs/groups.
If time: SS play a betting game: SS in turns make "bets" about what kind of job other SS would like to have and explain why. Right guess +10 points, wrong guess -5 points. If no time: SS play a guessing game: T prepares a list of jobs. SS in turns explain the jobs, other SS have to guess.
