Main Aims

  • To provide specific information and deduction listening practice using a text about communication across the generations.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of communication and how it is different through generations

Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will tell ss about the importance of communication and the problems that might face the generations. Then I will ask ss to work in pairs and discuss What problems they think different generations might have when they communicate?

Pre-teach vocabulary (5-8 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible and to prevent Ls blocking on unknown vocabulary in the questions or answers

I will set a context to explain some vocabulary that it will help the ss to listen to the audio easily without any problems.

Gist task (2-3 minutes) • To give Ls a reason to listen at a general level

I will ask the ss to listen to the audio and just we need to know which title should we put. It isn't important that you need to know all the vocabulary. Then I will ask them to answer the question individually then work in pairs to check their answers and giving thee feedback.

Specific information task (8-10 minutes) • To give Ls a reason to listen for individual items of information

I will ask the students to listen carefully again to answer the Ex.b then I will ask them to work in pairs to check their answers Finally I will give them the feedback.

Detailed Task (8-10 minutes) • To give Ls a reason to listen at a detailed level

I will ask the ss to listen again and then answer ex.3 individually. Then They will work in groups to check their answers and giving the feed back.

Follow up (8-10 minutes) • To balance productive and receptive skills

I will ask the ss to start the speaking follow up about which of the things are you best at? Which do you find very difficult.
