Description

Teaching Ss to write short email responses. Provide Ss with appropriate structure and content of what a email should have.

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide product writing practice of a short emails in the context of in response to emails

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide proper punctuation and grammar for emails

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will begin asking Ss who all uses emails and how regularly they use emails. I will tell the students that emails are just like any other form of communication so the formality does not always have to be included.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To show students what a properly written short email should include

I will have Ss put 4 emails in order that they were written in and then have the Ss tell me what each one included, greeting, body and closing. I will have them point out the greeting, body and closing of one example.

Content and structure (7-10 minutes) • I will teach what a short email should include and how it is structured

I will give the rules that a quick response email should follow and then have the Ss take a quiz about the rules

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To have Ss write a quick email

To have the Ss write a quick response email that follows the guidelines I have shown them

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' emails

I will read the emails they have written and correct any mistakes
