Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Showing a picture of a beach as an example of a place where ss can spend their holidays. Then, ss are asked to give their own suggestions of places for a holiday, how to get there and where to stay

Pre-teach vocabulary: (3-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Showing the ss pictures of the following words: river, bridge, sights, envelopes, and disasters. Then elicit their meanings with the help of the pictures.

Listening for gist (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Doing exercise 4.a with the ss I start with setting the context first: an interview with a couple at the airport. Tell SS that this is the two couples are at the airport (see photoP-80). Explain that Peter, the presenter is going to give both couples an envelope with their new destinations. Ask SS whether they think they are going to like their new holidays.

Reading for gist (3-5 minutes) • provide a written text which help ss to have more examples of personal experiences with holidays

chesting the material to ss and ask them ccqs Are we going to read quickly or slowly? quickly

Listening for specific info (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference listening tasks

I demo with the students by pausing at certain parts and checking their information. Then I ask them to do the rest of the exercise. Later, they check their answers in pairs and I finally show the answers in the ppt

Follow-up activity (10-15 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Doing ex.5 : Ss are asked to plan their ideal summer holiday. Ss have to mention the place, how to get there, and where to stay there. then they tell their pairs. Later, the plans are redistributed and they have to ask and tell their peers about the new plans

Feedback (5-7 minutes) • To provide both content and language feedback for the students

I will ask the ss about their new holidays and whether they like them or not. Using the collected notes during the speaking activity, I will provide linguistic feedback
